Duncan, et. al. v. State of Michigan Litigation

The Michigan Coalition for Justice (MCJ) is a diverse group of organizations and individuals committed to the reform of Michigan’s indigent defense system to ensure fundamental fairness. The MCJ seeks to achieve these goals through public education, litigation, and advocacy.
The MCJ filed a lawsuit on Feb. 22, 2007 against the State of Michigan and Governor Jennifer Granholm. The suit charges that the state has failed to fulfill its constitutional obligation to provide appropriate defense services for those who cannot afford private counsel.
